monitoring

Monitoring is performed from a number of different measuring points across Europe. By performing monitoring through different Internet operators and from different geographical areas, we can distinguish local disruptions on the Internet from operation problems. You can also compare the response times of different networks.

In the event of a disruption, notifications are immediately sent by e-mail and/or SMS or as requested by you. We also provide detailed and comprehensible reports.

Simple monitoring
SiteScanner can handle everything from monitoring connections to downloading and checking websites. With our web supervision service we can also monitor different protocols such as DNS, FTP and SMTP.

Transaction monitoring
With SiteScanner's transaction monitoring system, we can simulate a transaction on your web interface the same way as your regular customers and users. Anything they can do, we can reproduce. e-Commerce systems and business systems are the most common solutions. As online transactions are often dependent on more than one system, the only way to check them properly is to perform the actual transaction.

SiteScanner takes complete responsibility for all transaction monitoring. We create and maintain the script, which keeps your maintenance work to a minimum.

Electronic ID
Authorities, municipalities and other organisations are increasingly outsourcing web services as part of their goal of becoming a 24-hour authority. They aim to increase availability and reduce internal administration by enabling visitors to perform many of the tasks previously handled by their own staff. In most cases these services require visitors to identify themselves online. The most common way of doing this is via e-ID.

SiteScanner has collaborated with various authorities to create an e-ID log-in solution which also allows services behind the electronic login to be monitored by transaction robots. We log in and test critical services using virtual users.

Streaming media
SiteScanner has in collaboration with Swedish Radio and MPS broadband developed a component which is capable of monitoring streaming media.

Integration with internal monitoring systems
SiteScanner’s external monitoring system can be easily integrated with customers’ internal monitoring/workflow management systems such as MOM, Nagios, OP5, HP Openview and IBM Tivoli.

This means:
- Less administration
- One interface
- No procedural changes
- Alarm notifications managed by customers’ existing case-handling systems

LOAD TESTING

How many visitors can a website handle before the system crashes? The purpose of load testing or stress testing is to evaluate the system’s capacity and check that it can handle certain loads. We often perform load testing ahead of new launches or in the run-up to major campaigns when increases in traffic are expected.
Many municipalities and authorities use our load testing service. In cases like these, you need to be prepared for crisis situations, as crises usually happen when you least expect them. Load testing ensures that information can be disseminated efficiently even with a large number of visitors at the website.
A number of scenarios are simulated during tests. Using a pre-defined click pattern we allow an increasing number of simulated agents to use the system.

This exercise addresses the following questions:
How many simultaneous users can the system handle before it becomes noticeably slower and starts to have a negative impact on user perceptions?
How many simultaneous users will cause the system to crash?

We also need to verify requirement specification formulations such as:
The website can handle x simultaneous visitors without the average load time exceeding y'.
If this requirement is not met by the SLA, a review is recommended.
